Particularly drawn to the magic in mundane moments that reveal strengths and weaknesses, she creates female-driven narratives and reimagines their otherwise constrained lives through hybrid genres.
Her short film, DAISY IS GONE, won a Special Jury Award at the 2024 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Her work screened at festivals including St. Louis, Brooklyn, Jia Village Short, Dallas, and FIRST. Her first feature film, WHALE, is fiscally sponsored by Film Independent for tax-deductible donations.
She is a fellow of BAFTA Connect, the Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award, and Visual Communication’s Armed With a Camera. She studied film at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and honed her directing craft at UCLA.
Born in China and now a resident alien in Los Angeles, she spends her free time tending her plants and wandering in her neighborhood.
